Cause of yeast infections
I’ve been researching the cause of yeast infections for you.
They are caused by a naturally occurring fungus called Candida albicans which is found in small amounts inside the healthy vagina, plus in the mouth and digestive tract. Candida yeast is usually kept in harmonious balance by the vagina’s acidic environment but this sometimes gets out of balance, and triggers the over-growth of the candida fungus. This over-abundance of candida yeast is what has caused a vaginal yeast infection. More than 75% of women experience at least one yeast episode in their lives.
Vaginal yeast infection, or vulvovaginal candidiasis, is a common cause of vaginal irritation. Although this fungal infection is not considered as a sexually transmitted disease (STD), 12-15 percent of men develop symptoms after sexual contact with an infected partner.
HOW SERIOUS?
Itching of the vulva is the most common symptom. Also pain with urination, vulvar soreness or irritation, pain during intercourse, or you may have swollen and reddened vulvar and vaginal tissues. Often there is little or no vaginal discharge but if there is some, it is typically clumpy and white like curd (occasionally thin and watery).
Even though it’s painful and worrying, a vaginal yeast infection is not seen as majorly serious and it can be treated with medications – or naturally which is what this site is about.
However, a vaginal yeast infection can be a sign of a more serious underlying condition – or if left untreated it can lead to serious complications so I would suggest you follow up right now by learning more about how to cure yeast infection naturally. Click here.
