How to Prevent Pimples
Want to know if you are going to have pimples? Take a look at your mom and dad and your siblings. If they have or have had acne, it’s likely you will have zits also. The reality is that zits are caused by hormones, so your genes have a large impact on your acne problem. The right way to prevent pimples is to attack the root cause of your problem, by following a holistic pimple treatment program to “rebalance” your hormone levels. There are also some ways to minimize your pimples, if not prevent them completely.
The P.acnes bacteria that lives on the surface of your skin infects your blackheads and whiteheads and turns them into pimples. This bacteria is not the cause of acne, but if you kill the bacteria, you may be able to prevent pimples from developing.
One of the first things you can do to help prevent pimples is to wash your face the right way. The goal is to avoid irritating your skin and risk spreading infection. When it comes to washing your face, keep it simple. Using lukewarm water, wash your face two times per daily with a gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil or a very gentle soap like Dove. Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean soft towel. That’s all you need to do. You should be careful not to overwash which won’t help your acne, but will aggravate your acne.
Over the counter creams and gels with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide are a good bet if you have only mild acne. Do not be fooled into trying stronger concentrations of benzoyl peroxide. They aren’t any more effective and will probably irritate your skin. Do not just spot treat. Spread a thin layer over the areas of your face that get pimples. Do not apply it to areas where you don’t get pimples because it will irritate your skin. You will be killing off the P. acnes bacteria, but will that be enough to prevent pimples? Well, probably not, but it may prevent some blackheads from erupting into pimples if you’re lucky. Unfortunately, topical pimple treatments like benzoyl peroxide are only useful for mild acne. If you have moderate or severe acne, it isn’t very helpful.
How to prevent pimples – Here are other things you can do:
Don’t smoke. The blood flow to the skin is reduced if you smoke. This makes your skin less healthy and more susceptable to getting infected. As if you don’t have enough great reasons to stop smoking, do it for your complexion. Smoking doesn’t lead directly to pimples, but it sure doesn’t help. Quit if you know what’s good for you.
Reduce Stress: Stress can cause breakouts by producing a surge in androgen hormones. So another way of preventing pimples is to learn to control your stress. If you get stressed by your work, you may want to learn some relaxation techniques. If it’s exam time… well, take comfort in the fact that they will be over eventually!
Watch Your diet: There is a connection between diet and acne. Take control of your breakouts by keeping track of the foods you eat. Does something in your diet seem to always trigger your breakouts? Milk is a common culprit. By cutting milk from your diet, you might see fewer pimples. Some people have pimples triggered by hydrogenated oils, nuts and sugar. You might be able to prevent pimples by keeping track of your diet and cutting out your own trigger foods.
Don’t Pick! Listen to your mother for a change. Don’t pick, squeeze or pop anything on your face. I know it’s tempting and we all do it, but chances are your acne will stay around longer and get worse if you ignore this advice. This includes using those “strips” to clear your blackheads. Any time you irritate your skin, you increase the likelihood that it’s going to get infected. If you don’t want pimples, don’t mess with your blackheads and whiteheads. Let them go away on their own. Conceal them with makeup instead.
What is the best way to prevent pimples? The best way to prevent pimples over the long term, and the way that I really believe in, is to invest in holistic acne treatment programs such as the Acne No More system. That’s because your problem is ultimately the result of a hormone problem and not bad washing or bacteria. Hormones. The best thing you can do is follow the recommendations of the holistic acne treatment programs to make yourself as healthy as you can be, balance your hormones, and clear acne. I wish you luck with whatever you try, but remember – don’t do anything that irritates your skin – you’ll make it worse and you’ll actually cause pimples, not prevent them.
